Max Bill, "Bauhaus last masters"

The world's first radio wristwatch "Mega 1" was launched in 1990

Needs changes on daily basis, new development and quality pursued ever since, Junghans won the trust of German watch brand worldwide. “Keep making watches that combines tradition and new technology, associate with quality and well-designed”, makes it one of the kind.

In 1861 the Junghans was founded by Erhard Junghans and Jakob Zeller Tobler in Schramberg, Schwarzwald. In 1866, began to produce original watches under its name. After the death of Erhard, his son Author Junghans brought new skills from the America and mixed traditional watchmaking and built the status.

In 1903 it grew with 3,000 workers and selling 3 million clocks per year, making it the biggest clock factory in the world. Warehouse was heritage-listed terrace in 1917-1918, the structure offered optimal lighting conditions for the delicate task of watchmaking.

After the death of Author, his son Erwin and Oscar took over business. Difficult to keep up the same quality, but wrist watches share the most needs in the industry, Junghans produced them much more as of replacing pocket watches.

In 1957, Junghans launched the Wall clock designed by Max Bill, known as “Bauhaus last master”. It’s been selected to the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art, New York (MOMA). Junghans launched the first quartz watch in German after war in 1967, led the rebuilding of German watch industry.

Junghans was official timekeepers of Olympic Games in Munich in 1972, the first color finish photographs accurate to 100th of a second to prove its high technology.

Junghans launched the world’s first radio-controlled watch in 1990, the Mega 1. New technologies features developing a new radio-controlled watch with multi-frequency (receives automatically in Japan, America, and Europe), the Mega 1000.

In 1930, the first models from the famous Meister collection was launched. In 2011 Junghans introduced a new series to celebrate brand’s 150th anniversary, its 5th year and continue increasingly and evolutionally today.
